In history, each group was assigned an Indian-American battle to research and do a presentation on. My group was assigned the Battle of Wounded Knee, where the Bureau of Indian Affairs misread the Ghost Dance Movement by the Sioux Indians, leading to the bloody massacre of many Native Americans. I chose to put this project under "Communicate Ideas" because each group was supposed to present their battle to the class, but a few of them had some subjective opinions because of the nature and atrocity of the battles. This helps me answer my question because it is yet another example of whites trying to suppress native traditions, leading to more native deaths over a misunderstanding of native culture and tradition.
