For homework in English, we were assigned to read an article called "The Pocahontas Paradox." This article is from the perspective of a Navajo native, and their purpose for writing this article was to narrate the reality the Native Americans face when dealing with negative stereotypes. In the media, movies, books and etc., they are depicted as being less than human and savage, this having a particularly damaging affect on children in school. I chose to put this assignment under "Communicate Ideas" because this article shows a natives perspective on the stereotypes and struggles natives face even today. This answers my question because it gave me an insight on why Native American are so secretive about their culture and traditions.
